This post will provide you with 25 gifts ideas for the 7 year old girl in your life. These ideas are also suitable for 6-8 year olds too. If you’re looking for the perfect Christmas or Birthday present, then you’re in the right place. Gift categories include crafts, books, bedroom decor, practical items and toys that encourage pretend play. These ideas are 7 year old approved! They are either items that my daughter already owns and loves, or they are on her wish list.
What are 7 year olds interested in?
7 year olds are amazing! It’s a real sweet spot in childhood where they are very capable and can do a lot of things independently, but they are also still very innocent. Most 7 year olds have established hobbies and interests and will have developed favourite subjects at school. They have very high energy levels and need to be able to move their bodies after periods of sitting throughout the day. They love asking questions about anything and everything! Some 7 year olds will be able to tell the time. Most 7 year olds like to be sociable and friends are important to them. They are incredibly creative and love learning how to master new things. They have fantastic imaginations and are really very funny. What’s not to love about 7 year olds!
Admittedly not all 7 years will be into the same things, all children are different, but chances are they would enjoy at least one item on the list below.

Rainbow Bed Canopy
We bought this rainbow bed canopy for my daughter last year and she loves it. It would also work great if you wanted to set up a cosy reading corner.
LED Fairy Lights
My daughter has requested some little LED fairy lights for Christmas this year to make her bedroom extra cosy.
Unicorn Alarm Clock
This unicorn alarm clock is great for kids learning to tell the time.
Jewellery Box
This cute unicorn jewellery box was gifted to my daughter a couple of years ago and she loves it.
Jellycat Cuddly Toys
Jellycat stuffed toys are so cute and there is such a huge range of animal and object designs to choose from, there’s bound to be one to suit any child no matter what they’re interested in.
Practical Gifts
Initial Sweatshirt
I have bought quite a few of these embroidered initial jumpers for the children in my extended family now. They are great quality and make a really thoughtful gift.
Backpack
School backpacks can face a lot of wear and tear. My daughter’s school bag is starting to look a bit tatty, so I’m planning on getting her a new one for Christmas. Backpacks make for a nice practical gift.
Water Bottle
A new drinks bottle also makes a great practical gift. We have this stainless steel one made by Ion8 and it has lasted really well so far. There are loads of different designs to choose from in this range.
Polaroid Camera
This Instax Mini Polaroid camera is super stylish and a great gift that kids can use to capture their memories. Just make sure they know that each film only has 10 shots, so they don’t go crazy taking photos of random things!
Polaroid Camera Film
They will definitely take photos of random things, so it’s worth investing in a couple of spare rolls of film!
Polaroid Camera Accessories
This accessories kit is great as it contains a camera case, photo album and loads of cute accessories like frames and clips to display your photos. It also makes a great accompanying gift for someone else to buy your child if you’re the one investing in the Polaroid camera.
Amazon Fire Kids Tablet
This tablet is designed specifically for kids aged 6-12 years old. It comes with a case and a years worth of age appropriate content. It’s sometimes discounted by around 50% for Prime Day and Black Friday, so it’s worth getting it when it’s on offer. This is not currently available in the US, so I have linked to a similar alternative with good reviews below.
Books
Story Orchestra Books
These interactive books are a wonderful way to introduce children to different pieces of classical music. There are little excerpts on each page that help to bring the story to life. We currently have The Nutcracker and The Four Seasons from this collection. Other titles include Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and The Planets.
Famous Five Books
The Adventures of the Famous Five by Enid Blyton are great stories to read your child if you’ve started to transition into reading them chapter books. My daughter and I have really enjoyed reading these together recently.
Milly-Molly-Mandy Books
This is another classic series of stories that follow the sweet and innocent adventures of a little girl that lives in the English countryside.
Arts & Crafts
Craft Box & Materials
It’s really handy to have a box to keep all of your child’s arts and crafts in one place. This craft box comes with an array of crafting supplies, but you can also buy just the box on its own.
Stationary Trolley
If your child’s craft collection is slightly more extensive then this stationary trolley is a stylish way to keep all of their pens, paper, paints, brushes and other craft materials neat and tidy. It also comes in lots of different colours.
Brush Colouring Pens
We’re a big fan of brush pens. They’re really nice to use and a lot less messy than actual paint.
Fashion Design Kit
This kit contains lots of lovely squares of fabric, pins, clips, sequins and a measuring tape. It’s great for kids who like to make outfits for their Barbie dolls. My daughter uses this kit a lot.
Bracelet Making Kit
This rainbow bracelet making kit from Cotton Twist contains handmade wooden beads and string to create your own bracelets. It’s really nice quality and my daughter has had a lot of enjoyment from this kit.
Pom Pom Maker
This is on my daughter’s wish list for this Christmas. The wooden donut design is so cute and hopefully it will help her create some lovely pom poms.
Handmade Playdough
This handmade playdough smells amazing and is made with natural ingredients. Mums Memory Box is my favourite Etsy seller to buy playdough from, she creates so many different seasonal designs. I highly recommend trying these.
Pretend Play
Koala Polly Pocket
Polly Pockets are still very popular with 6-8 year old girls. My daughter is a big fan of koalas and loves her Koala Polly Pocket.
Lego Arendelle Castle Village
This set is effectively like a little dolls house once it’s assembled and has been played with a lot in our house. Great for fans of Frozen.
Disney Tea Cup & Saucer
I gifted this lovely Belle cup and saucer to my daughter last Christmas as an accompanying gift. Her main gift was Afternoon Tea for Two at a local hotel, which we visited together between Christmas and New Year. I wanted her to have something to open on Christmas Day and this made the perfect accompanying gift.
