What are 7 year olds interested in?
7 year olds are amazing! It’s a real sweet spot in childhood where they are very capable and can do a lot of things independently, but they are also still very innocent. Most 7 year olds have established hobbies and interests and will have developed favourite subjects at school.
They have very high energy levels and need to be able to move their bodies after periods of sitting throughout the day. They love asking questions about anything and everything!
Some 7 year olds will be able to tell the time. Most 7 year olds like to be sociable and friends are important to them. They are incredibly creative and love learning how to master new things. They have fantastic imaginations and are really very funny. What’s not to love about 7 year olds!
Admittedly not all 7 years will be into the same things, all children are different, but chances are they would enjoy at least one item on the list below.

My daughter has requested some little LED fairy lights for Christmas this year to make her bedroom extra cosy.

Digital Camera with SD Card
My daughter was also gifted one of these digital cameras, which comes with an SD card. This is a much more affordable alternative to a Polaroid camera and is still a big hit with 6-8 year old girls. It has a selfie mode and a few games on it too. My daughter loves it!
Backpack
School backpacks can face a lot of wear and tear. My daughter’s school bag is starting to look a bit tatty, so I’m planning on getting her a new one for Christmas. Backpacks make for a nice practical gift.
Amazon Fire Kids Tablet
This tablet is designed specifically for kids aged 6-12 years old, with built in controls to help filter out inappropriate content. It’s sometimes discounted by around 50% for Prime Day and Black Friday, so it’s worth getting it when it’s on offer.
Initial Sweatshirt
I have bought quite a few of these embroidered initial jumpers for the children in my extended family now. They are great quality and make a really thoughtful gift.

Story Orchestra Books
These interactive books are a wonderful way to introduce children to different pieces of classical music. There are little excerpts on each page that help to bring the story to life.
We currently have The Nutcracker and The Four Seasons from this collection. Other titles include Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and The Planets.
Famous Five Books
The Adventures of the Famous Five by Enid Blyton are great stories to read your child if you’ve started to transition into reading them chapter books. My daughter and I have really enjoyed reading these together recently.

This is another classic series of stories that follow the sweet and innocent adventures of a little girl that lives in the English countryside.

Craft Box & Materials
It’s really handy to have a box to keep all of your child’s arts and crafts in one place. This craft box comes with an array of crafting supplies, but you can also buy just the box on its own.

This set is effectively like a little dolls house once it’s assembled and has been played with a lot in our house. Great for fans of Frozen.
Disney Teacup & Saucer
I gifted a lovely Disney Belle teacup and saucer set to my daughter last Christmas as an accompanying gift. Her main gift was Afternoon Tea for Two at a local hotel, which we visited together between Christmas and New Year. I wanted her to have something to open on Christmas Day and this made the perfect accompanying gift.
