In this post I share 8 simple and easy ways to add some fall decor to your home. These are affordable ideas that you can use year after year. Let’s celebrate this beautiful season and make our homes feel extra cosy as the nights start to draw in.
Autumn is my favourite season of the year. I live in the South West of England and it is stunning. Yes it’s windy and rainy, but the colours of the trees and the cosy feeling that comes with this season is one that I truly love. It wasn’t until 2018, when I started using Instagram, that I discovered people actually decorate their homes for Autumn / Fall. I couldn’t get enough of the beautiful images of pumpkins and hay bales stacked on porches, wreaths on front doors and pumpkin spice candles.
However, six years ago I really struggled to find any fall decor available to buy in the UK. As time has gone on, fall decor has become more popular here and my collection has steadily grown. As you will see, I’ve kept it pretty simple and achievable. Read on as I share with you the items that I like to display around my own home at this time of year.

Wreaths
My Autumn front door wreath was one of the first items of fall decor that I ever purchased. I have had countless complements from my neighbours over the years and it’s a great way to mark the start of the season. I now have a spring/summer wreath as well, so on 1st September each year I like to swap it out for my Autumn wreath. I managed to find my wreath on Amazon and a very similar version is still available six years later. It has taken a bit of a battering from the weather over the years, so I have had to use my glue gun a few times to stick parts back on. Overall though, I feel like it’s been a great investment and it brings me joy every time I drive into my road and see it hanging on my front door.
I’m always on the look out for gorgeous wreaths and I think the one below from Etsy may be my next purchase. But that depends on how well my current wreath holds up after its 6th autumn outdoors!
Garlands
This maple leaf LED light garland is also now six years old. The batteries need replacing each year, but other than that it still works great. Having the extra little fairy lights on the fireplace really helps make the living room feel more cosy, as it’s slowly beginning to get darker earlier on an evening. I also found these lights on Amazon.
Pumpkins
Displaying pumpkins in your home is a beautiful yet simple way to celebrate the season. I now have a number of pumpkin ornaments, but I also love to bring in real pumpkins that can then be made into pumpkin pies and soups. My favourite pumpkin ornaments are the set of three below from Laura Ashley. I can’t seem to find these online anymore unfortunately, but Etsy has something similar if you like the look of these.
I also bought the cute blue velvet pumpkin below from Hobbycraft last year. The small blue, white and orange pumpkins were from Ebay, but they are not the best quality and I wouldn’t really recommend them. The large blue and copper pumpkin ornaments were from Homesense / TK Maxx. They have a decent selection in store each year, but their stock is pretty random, so if you see something you like it’s best to get it there and then!
Candles
Candles are another great way to bring in some extra light and coziness into your home. I used to buy whatever pumpkin scented candles I could find at Homesense. Nowadays I tend to only buy candles made from either soy wax or beeswax, as they are non-toxic and burn clean. My favourite soy wax candle is from Run With Wolves. The Ginger Solstice scent is made with ginger and vanilla and it smells incredible. I buy these candles from Peace With The Wild. I like to buy my beeswax candles from a small company on Etsy. I am also loving hand painted taper candles at the moment and I have a recent blog post where I share How To Hand Paint Pumpkins on to Taper Candles.
Mugs
Switching out your tea or coffee mugs is an easy way to add a touch seasonal decor to your home. My latest purchase is this beautiful orange and red ombre coloured mug from Le Creuset. It is beautiful quality and it might sound strange, but my tea tastes nicer when I drink it from this mug! I have the 350ml size in the colour ‘Volcanic’, which I purchased from Amazon. I also have this cute little mug from Emma Bridgewater. I like the design, but it is a little bit on the small side so I don’t use it much.
Artwork
I recently ordered some very affordable pieces of digital artwork from Etsy, to add a few autumnal prints around my home. I printed the one below at home, which fits into a 8×10″ frame. I love this piece of artwork! It makes me think of the BBC adaptation of Jane Eyre, featuring Ruth Wilson. I love watching that mini series at this time of year, it’s so dark, moody and romantic. It makes for perfect Autumn viewing.
I also ordered this beautiful autumn landscape digital artwork from Etsy. After shopping around for a while, I found Snapfish to be the most reasonably priced for printing larger prints and posters. They seem to offer good discounts on a regular basis and I was able to get 50% off my prints. I have the one below hanging in my kitchen.
Soft Furnishings
Switching up your cushion and pillow covers or throws and blankets is another way to add touches of fall decor to your home. I’ve had these black and white buffalo check cushion covers from Amazon for a few years now. Chunky knit blankets and throws in brown, green and orange tones are also lovely additions to living rooms. Asda currently has a wide range of autumnal soft furnishings available, which are pretty reasonably priced.
Chrysanthemums
Chrysanthemums (or Mums) are the perfect plants to decorate the outside of your home with during the Autumn season. I found this glossy black plant pot at my local garden centre and it set off the yellow flowers and orange pumpkins beautifully. If you can’t get to your local garden centre, then Amazon do actually sell some lovely looking Mums.
